Must Haves of an Elevator Pitch

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

An Elevator Pitch is a very short summary used to quickly and simply define a product, service or organization. It normally takes 30 seconds to 2minutes. The elevator helps an entrepreneur to present his/her ideas to some busy CEOs within a short period of time of les than 3 minutes and the idea is understood.
Hook – statement or question that immediately piques interest of recipient

Passion – if you are not excited about your business, no one else will be either

Request – Ask recipient for permission to call, a referral to others, or feedback

Short – assume you have less than a minute, and sometimes only time for a few sentences

On preparing for stepping on an Elevator, you should be able to answer the following:-
What does your company do? (For example, begin your answer with "We provide.")
Whom does your company do it for? (For example, begin your answer with "For small and midsized healthcare providers.")
Why do they care? Or, What's in it for them? (For example, include in your answer "so that they can," "who can no longer afford," or "who are tired of.")
Why is your company different? (For example, begin your answer with "As opposed to" or "Unlike.")
What is your company? (For example, begin your answer with "My company is an insurance.")
